About the Society

Islamic Zakat Society ( IZS) is a nonprofit civil institution unaffiliated with any political or regulatory ideology. It was founded in 1999 by a group of Palestinian figures as an effort to enhance social solidarity and provide developmental, health, social and religious services throughout developing programs to achieve its vision in an efficient, scientific and transparent way. It was licensed at the Ministry of Social Affairs in 1995 under the number (2), and the Ministry of the Interior under the number (7011), as well as its position was re-adjusted under the Societies Act No. 2000 dated 8/11/2000.

Mission

IZS disseminates public awareness on the importance of Zakat and distributes charities to legitimate recipients on a highest level of competence, distinction and righteousness. IZS contributes to strengthening the steadfastness of the Palestinian society through quantitative and qualitative expansion of the services provided as well as helps to achieve social development and to improve all aspects of life for marginalized and underprivileged groups, leading to a self-reliant solidarity community living a human dignified life. To achieve its tasks, ( IZS) collaborates with developmental and humanitarian partners and utilizes all its human and material potentials in providing sustainable developmental projects.

General Goal
Manage funds of Zakat with the highest level of efficiency, excellence and equity to contribute in sustainable development of marginalized and underprivileged groups of Gaza City

Objectives

Enhance awareness of Zakat principle and distribute collected Sadaqa (charities) from home and abroad to appropriate beneficiaries by all available means.
Support Palestinian society steadfastness through improving social, health, cultural and economic conditions.
Promote the spirit of humanitarian work to achieve the principle of social solidarity.
Create and manage developmental and endowed projects in order to achieve sustainable development of society.
Provide orphans and needy families with periodical sponsorships as well as medical and therapeutic aid.
Contribute to alleviating poverty and social deprivation through establishing small enterprises for the neediest categories including widows, orphans and people with special needs.
Improve living conditions to marginalized families throughout rehabilitating their houses.
Enhance women participation in social development.
Cooperate with local and international humanitarian and charitable organizations to meet the needs of marginalized and disadvantaged groups in society.

Independence
( IZS) is a non-governmental institution founded under the law of charity associations and civil organizations establishment. It is an independent institution takes its decisions independently with no influence from any other party.
Equity and non-discrimination
(IZS) provides services to beneficiaries and distributes aid to all those in need regardless of their political affiliation, ideological beliefs, or any other discriminatory considerations.
Distinction and transparency
(IZS) carries out its duties with full transparency and follows the most effective administrative procedures and regulations.
Integrity and Authenticity
(IZS) ensures delivering sponsors’ donations and Zakat with the highest level of efficiency, excellence, justice and documentation.
